"Five
Questions that I am often asked prior to a lesson"
1.
Who taught you to play, and how long have you been playing?
I
took interest in golf at age 15. I began to play after an opportune
meeting and conversation with one of golf's legendary greats,
Mr. Henry Cotton. Soon after, I began lessons with former PGA
Touring Professional and highly renowned instructor, Mr. Jack
Lumpkin (PGA Teacher of the year, 1997).
2. How
long have you been teaching golf?
I began teaching golf after college (1990). First
as a club professional in Michigan, then by supplementing my off-season
income when I was playing competitively on various tours throughout
the country. In 1996, I went back to full-time teaching when I
was employed by Golf Digest Schools.
3. Are
most of your students low, middle or high handicappers?
I
am experienced and currently teach both individuals and groups
at all skill and age levels.
4. Are
you a "Method" teacher?
No,
however, every instructor has his or her style or "method"
of communicating. As a teacher, I think it is important to understand
the performance goals of each individual student. Everyone has
different abilities to learn and progress. I try to establish
a fundamental set up, and then work to perfect a motion that compliments
body type and practice opportunities.
5. Are
you a member of the PGA of America?
Yes
