The Requirements for a Successful Golf Swing

Clubhead Control (Lag)

by: Connie DeMattia

Purpose: The clubhead travels fastest in the swing prior to the left arm and clubshaft being "in line". The sensation is difficult to obtain because the club is moving with incredible speed as it approaches the ball. The following drill will train your arms, wrists and hands to perform correctly and more efficiently (due to the weight of the broom).

Benefit: It will also strengthen and improve the performance of the big muscles in your legs, hips, side and back.

Drill: Swing a Broom

Example of Tour Player with "Lag"

Swinging a broom

Instruction:
You need a broom and plenty of room to swing.
