Paying Attention to the Pre-Swing Fundamentals

Grip (Right Hand)

Presented by: Connie DeMattia

Purpose: A good grip is the first requirement of a good golf swing, since your hands are your only contact with the club.

Drill: The Right Hand

Instruction: The grip in the right hand should be one where the handle is placed in the first two knuckle joints of the two middle fingers.

The pocket of the right palm covers the left thumb, and the index finger is triggered like shooting a gun.

Your right hand should be placed on the club so that when you open that hand, your palm faces the target, mirroring the clubface.

Grips are classified according to:
Overlap - right pinky between left index and middle fingers
Interlock - right pinky between right index finger
10 fingers - like a baseball bat
